As “Mr. Pink,” I front New York’s ’90s tribute band, Reservoir Dawgs. Big songs, familiar hooks, and a full-throttle live experience.
Meet the DawgsI’m John Enghauser, an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I’ve been an avid music listener since childhood and began writing songs before I was ten. My roots span rock, pop, progressive rock, funk, soul and jazz. My influences include Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Led Zeppelin, early Genesis, Steely Dan, Jamiroquai, Zero 7 and Foo Fighters.
I made my debut as a lead singer at seventeen. In Massachusetts, I fronted Jamawokee, playing alongside guitarist Matt Dahlgren and bassist Eric Holden. I later wrote all the material for my original Boston project, Jeng. Those bands are part of a musical journey that has taken me from original songs and albums to film work and the stages I play today.
My album Lost in the Pages won Best Album at the LA Music Awards. I wrote every song, co-produced the record and performed all vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass and keyboards, with Dicki Fliszar on drums. My catalog also includes the LA Music Award-nominated Reality.
My music has been distributed in 20+ countries across Europe, Australia and North America. “Tower Part 2” appeared on the 2015 Grammy ballot.
Along the way, I’ve worked with my mentor Mitch Chakour, whose credits include Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor, and recorded with Eric Holden, whose credits include Shakira, Josh Groban and Five for Fighting.
“Stillwaters” featured in the motion picture Dealing With Destiny. For the indie film Urban Relics, I served as Music Coordinator and main songwriting contributor, writing ’50s-style pop and a cappella songs.
Today, I front The Steely Dan Experience on vocals, keyboards and melodica. I also perform as Mr. Pink with New York’s ’90s tribute band Reservoir Dawgs, on lead vocals and harmonica.
Alongside performing, I write complete songs and collaborate with artists on co-writing, toplines, lyrics and song completion. Whether we’re starting with a melody, developing a lyric or building a song from the ground up, I’ll listen to your ideas and write to the style and direction of your project.
